How the records work

Source

Every entry comes from the Buckeye Big Buck Club Record Book, published by Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife / Buckeye Big Buck Club. TrophyBook keeps a copy of the full export, retrieved September 15, 2026: 21,879 entries from 1905 to 2025. Bucks entered since then show up after the next refresh.

Scores

Bucks are ranked by net score, measured with the Boone and Crockett system the club uses. Scores are in inches; “175 3/8” means 175 and three-eighths inches. The club's minimums are 140 inches for a typical rack and 160 for a non-typical one.

Categories

Typical and non-typical are the club's own rack classes. Weapons are listed exactly as ODNR records them. TrophyBook's weapon pages group them:

Weapon as ODNR lists itEntries

Hand Gun140
Long Bow5,073
Modern Shotgun9,594
Muzzleloader1,636
Straight-Walled Rifle527

What the book leaves out

  • Only bucks that were officially scored and entered are in the book. Many big bucks are never entered, so a county's count reflects entries, not every trophy taken there.
  • 121 entries list no county and 241 list no weapon; they appear in the full list but not in county or weapon views.
  • Book-buck odds on county pages are entries per 1,000 deer checked over five seasons, ending two seasons back because scoring waits on antlers drying and then the club's processing. Each county's rate is blended with the statewide rate as if it had 2,000 more deer at that rate, so a county with few deer isn't ranked on a handful of entries. The odds measure how often bucks were entered, not how many big bucks live there.
